Lola can best be described as a princess!  She has a big personality that far exceeds her petite frame.  At seven, she doesn't look a day over three :).  Lola has bonded most with her new mum and evens the family up, making it equal parts male and female now (much to mum's joy and delight).  She is lightning fast at snatching food off of surfaces she can reach; loves to perch at the top of the sofa surveying her new home free from the ornery gripes of our thirteen-year old cock-a-poo Bear.  They get along best when Lola accepts her rank as newbie and does not tread on Bear's unwritten series of rules that she is expected to follow.  Napping is their favourite past-time, especially flaked out on mum and dad's bed with the fans on high.  Car rides mean adventure and she is happiest riding shotgun with the windows down low to maximize the cross-breeze.
 
Lola came to our attention through the Aylmer SPCA's website.  A friend recommended your shelter as being especially humane with your commitment to finding alternatives to euthanasia for pets deemed unfit for adoption.  We were happy to support your efforts through Lola's adoption and hope that in telling her story, we can encourage others to do the same.
 
From what we can estimate, Lola came to your shelter from a "good" home.  She shows no signs of physical abuse and is socially developed.  Sadly she does show signs of neglect having been abandoned by her previous family after spending two weeks in your boarding kennel.  Lola sticks to me like glue, often going as far as camping out under the commode while in use simply to ensure she doesn't get left behind again.  It's heartbreaking to see her question each movement we make as potentially being the last time she sets eyes on us.  We have little concern that Lola won't recover fully from her experience, we are all too aware though that hers is merely one of countless other stories that make what you do so very important.  We are so grateful to your organization and its volunteer staff for the dedication and heart that you give to care for each four-legged fragile soul that crosses your path.
